Up to 90% of visits to physicians are for stress-related complaints: headaches, eye-strain, backaches, depression, anxiety, high blood pressure, heart disease and just plain physical and mental exhaustion.
Muscles tighten due to stress, injury, poor circulation and repetitive movement. Tightness brings pain, discomfort and restricted movement. These conditions become habitual; they do not go away by themselves. You may even develop compensatory movement patterns.
Massage Therapy helps alleviate injury and stress by relaxing musculature, breaking up scar tissue and making all tissue more pliable. Heart rate, blood pressure and circulation improve.
Massage Therapy teaches you to listen to your body; you learn your body's warning signs of stress and tension so are able to do preventive care, keeping yourself healthy.
Massage Therapy stretches and loosens tight muscles and connective tissue. It breaks down scar tissue resulting from injury, surgery, etc. and prevents further scar development.
Tight muscles cannot hold much fluid or allow fluid to pass through. Think of a sponge squeezed tightly. This decreases blood flow, putting more strain on your heart, creating fatigue, soreness and chronic pain.
Loosening musculature, Massage Therapy enables the body to utilize nutrients and expel wastes. Increased blood flow equals increased immune system function; there is greater as well so recovery from injury and illness is greatly improved.
Relieves TMJ, Carpal Tunnel; Increases Flexibility; Improves Range of Motion; Promotes Healing; Prevents Injury; Speeds Waste Removal; Improved athletic performance and recovery.
Training Massage
Regular massage helps athletes increase flexibility and range of motion. There is faster recovery from workouts as well as relaxed and toned muscles. During training, massage helps prevent the development of chronic problems and speeds healing from current injuries.
Pre-Event Massage
A vigorous massage done before an athletic event stimulates circulation, calms nervous tension and prepares the body for peak performance. It warms and stretches muscles, increasing flexibility thereby reducing the chance of injury.
Post-Event Massage
Exercise creates tiny tears in the musculature. A massage after an event relieves swelling caused by this damage. It increases blood flow and inhibits scar tissue formation. Massage helps remove lactic acid, a waste product that is responsible for muscle soreness and burning felt after overworking a muscle. Post-event massage reduces stiffness and cramping and helps speed recovery time.

As the name suggests, the cold laser therapy is a treatment method under which laser beams are used to relieve inflammation and pain. The intensity of the laser beams used is quite low; the area treated is exposed to the laser beams for a specific time at set intervals.
The term 'cold' does not mean that the temperature of the laser, but refers to the intensity of the laser is low compared to high intensity ones, which may burn. The treatment method is referred to by several names such as laser acupuncture, low-level laser therapy, soft laser, low power laser therapy and bio-stimulation.
The concept behind the use of low intensity laser beams is that lasers when calibrated to a certain wavelength have the potential to stimulate cells.
This stimulation leads to progressed healing and reduction in pain and inflammation. The supporters of the cold laser therapy treatment are of the view that this form of treatment is like acupressure and acupuncture, where specific points in the body are targeted. Cold laser treatment can be highly beneficial for patients with chronic back pain, arthritis, joint pains, wound healing, sports injuries, soft tissue injuries, swelling and myofascial pain.
The cold laser works towards increasing strength, speed and quality of repair of damaged tissues. This stimulation increases the supply of blood to the affected area and it starts healing. The cold laser therapy also helps generate healthy cells, which aid quick wound healing.
Pollutants, chemicals, food preservatives, world travel and the stress of daily living are creating more toxins than ever. Some people come back from exotic vacations only to find their systems full of parasites that wreak havoc on the body's systems. Ionic foot baths may help alleviate these problems.
Ionic Foot Baths work to speed the removal of wastes from your system. The sea salt we add "energizes" the water producing more negative ions (good ions)*; these ions attach to the positive ions (bad ions)** in your body to neutralize and rid itself of them. About 20% of this material is drawn out of the feet; this explains the color seen in the water. The remaining 80% is excreted in the normal (yet enhanced) way--through urine, sweat, solid waste, etc.
Everyone's experience is different. There is no prediction of how you will respond. This is another tool of preventive care. Ionic Foot Baths are not a substitute for a doctor's diagnosis or treatment. Ionic footbaths are $30 per session.
*Negative Ions are the good ions, giving you contented feelings, i.e. warm sun on your body, spring rains...
**Positive Ions are bad ions draining your energy, i.e. sitting in front of a computer, florescent lighting, strong winds..
Some possible benefit

Marietta is my hero. As a racing cyclist, she flushes the miles out of my legs, keeping them supple and loose. As a Massage Therapist myself, I aspire to her level of professionalism. Her techniques and ethics are tops. She is great. Ken Brecheisen, CMT, Age 50
Focused attention and thorough work have produced great results for me! After twenty years of chronic neck and shoulder issues, Marietta has managed to restore health and vigor to my upper body. Her willingness to address my specific concerns lays the groundwork for my long association. Kristy R. Jordan, CFP®, ChFC, CLU; Certified Financial Planner; Chartered Financial Consultant; Chartered Life Underwriter; Master of Business Administration
I have been a patient of Marietta's for about five years, and she has kept me dancing and performing through some very difficult times. As a performer of Cirque du Soliel, I need very specific body work to keep me ready to perform. Marietta has saved me in times when I could not even turn my head from a neck injury, and after a massage from her I was able to perform and teach in the same day. I have suffered several injuries that without the help of Marietta, would have finished my career. These days there are so many therapists that it can be difficult to find one that is trust-worthy. Marietta is extremely gifted in the art of healing, as well as extensively educated in body work, and natural healing. She is by far, the best therapist that has worked on me, and is worth every penny. I recommend Marietta to all people, and am confident that you will love her too! Robyn Houpt, Age 26, Cirque du Soleil Acrobat/Dancer
It’s been a little over a year since I began receiving Marietta’s wonderful massage therapy, and it’s been absolutely great in every regard. She possesses tremendous knowledge about the mechanics and sensitivities of the human body, and successfully blends those skills with her strong intuitive wisdom. I feel fortunate to know her and am grateful for the bodywork she provides. Hank Fisher, Age 54, Management Consultant
I am 39 years old and work as a Registered Nurse (RN). I had quantum touch done to help with lower back pain. I was suprised at the improvement I noticed after only one visit. It certainly worked! Lisa R.
My thanks to Marita, for helping me through my recovery of three back surgeries and a knee replacement in one year. I worked for the schools for twenty years. The last five were difficult due to chronic back pain. At the age of 58, I was diagnosed with scoliosis, spinal stenosis, spondylitis, dengenerative disc disease from T9 - S1, along with age related osteoarthritis of the spine. Four months after my last surgery, my muscles were causing discomfort. After 58 yrs. of holding up a twisted & crooked spine the muscles didn't know what to do. Marietta is helping to recondition and retrain my back muscles. I am now able to go without pain for most of the day and my energy levels are increasing. Marietta is; in my opinion, a large part of my post op recovery. With her help, my quality of life has improved immensely Linda Waller, Lakewood
Marietta Kerby has the world magical touch when it comes to healing your body or just making you melt from the amazing massage she gives. She is a outstanding leader in helping me with obtaining other clients. She always makes time and that’s what matters. Kelli Jo, Business Owner
I began going to Able Body Massage Therapy about 1 1/2 years ago after suffering a brain injury as well as a c-spine sprain. Ms. Kerby was amazing right from the start she listened to both myself and my husband as we were both pretty scared and unsure about my injuries. She gave my husband many suggestions on books to read to help educate us on what was going on with me. She also did some homework herself on TBI and and was very helpful in my healing with suggestions of, happy movies to uplift my spirits, word search books to exercise my brain, journals etc. She taught me how to use a theracane at home to help my pain, ways to walk-- it goes on and on. And the massages loosened up my shoulders so I no longer looked like the hunch back of notre dame!! I still have a long road ahead but I am starting to see the light much of that is due to not a massage therapist but a healer named Marietta Kerby. Kathy McGrew, age 48
I have been a client of Marietta Kerby for some time now. I have a medical background and feel comfortable with assessing a massage therapist's knowledge of the human body. I feel that Ms. Kerby is by far one of the most competent practicing massage therapists in the Lakewood area. Ms. Kerby has over two decades of professional massage experience in addressing clients' restorative health needs. She knows how to speak the language of medical professionals, while effectively communicating to her clients who are not in the medical field. I will continue to schedule massages with her because of the quality of her work and the rate of compensation that she ask for. She could easily ask for more, but continually keeps her fees extremely competitive. I would (and do) highly recommend Ms. Kerby to my friends and co-workers. Rick Pike, Age 35
I love, love, love the cold laser. I have had major waves of release in my neck and butt. The tush is especially noticeable because of the deep tissue work you did. Amalie Millhone, Hair by Amalie
